We made our way to Lubbock TX to take our Texas RV driver license test (Class A Exempt - so we can legally drive our RV). Just as we arrived in town a stone hit our windshield and immediately created a 6 inch crack, but it didn't stop there... By the time we reached our destination the crack was 15 inches across! Well, no amount of super glue was going to fix that one!

It's late at night, there's nowhere to get this fixed and we need to be at the driving test location by 8am the next morning. We really don't want to miss this opportunity to take our test as it was very tricky enough to schedule the tests to coincide with our few days in Texas and our next opportunity might not be until the end of the year (when we'll be back in Texas again). Anyway, it was quite a stressful night!

The next day we made the decision to drive to the test center without the rig and explain the situation. We didn't even know if it was legal to drive with that big of a crack, especially when pulling an 18,000 lbs 5th Wheel! Having explained our dilemma, the staff were really kind and let us go ahead with our tests - they advised us to get the windshield replaced asap after. So, we nipped back to camp to collect our rig and back we went to take the test. Thankfully, the crack didn't get any bigger and we both passed!

The windshield was replaced the next day, just before a crazy sand storm blew through. It seems we were meant to take a part of Texas with us on our journey, as both truck and trailer were covered in orange dust... In fact, we're still finding that dust weeks later! :)
